Product Review: The Club Caddy
Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 5:02PM Did you ever come across something, a tool, gadget, whatever, and said to yourself, "why didn't I think of that?"
The Club Caddy in actionThat's exactly what happened to me the first time I saw the Club Caddy. Invented by David Jones and winner on the first season of the Golf Channel series "Fore Inventors Only", the Club Caddy is one of the simplist, yet most useful tools you will ever put in your golf bag... bar none.
Basically, it's a clothes pin-type device used to clip to the bottom of the shaft of your golf club and hold it in a standing position. The obvious use is for when you take a putter and wedge to the green during wet conditions. But I can attest after testing, the uses don't end there.
I played golf with the Club Caddy today. We were in wet conditions, and the Club Caddy performed unbelievably well for keeping my grips dry. But what I didn't foresee, is that it also saved a lot of bending over to pick up clubs -- in fact, it even helped me to avoid forgetting my club once (it's easy to forget a club laying on the ground, but not when it's standing up and practically begging you to take it back to the cart with you). I won't even mention the fact that our greens had been sanded as well today, and using the Club Caddy helped me avoid having to clean sand off my grips over and over again.
When it comes to golf equipment, I am a gadget freak. And I can honestly say that the Club Caddy is by far the neatest, simplist and perhaps the most useful tool I have had the pleasure of using in a long, long time.
