Indonique's Pomegranate White Tea
Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11:36AM As someone who has always been partial to black teas, I've never gotten a lot out of the few white teas I have tried to date. For those not in the know, white tea is the total opposite end of the spectrum to black in terms of taste and preparation. Black tea is the tea leaf in its fully oxidized form, while white tea is just the opposite: very lightly oxidized. As a result you get very different tastes, with black tea generally having a very full and sometimes even bitter taste, and white being very light, almost dull in flavor.
That said, when I tried Pomegranate White tea from Indonique last night, I was very pleased with the light, yet flavorful blend. To be honest, I wasn't looking forward to trying it, expecting the strong pomegranate flavor (which I am not particularly fond of either) to all but take over the light taste of the white tea.
But I was very surprised to find a blend that, to my taste, was near perfect. The pomegranate and white tea is mixed in an unbelievably pleasing proportion, allowing the natural flavors of both to mingle together perfectly. It is a very subtle and soothing blend that honestly, I can't say enough about. This blend is bar none the best white tea I have ever had the pleasure of tasting, and I can't wait to get home tonight to drink more.
Highly recommended!
